Dreaming a New Reality

Dreaming a New Reality
7 of Cups

Happy New Year! The last few years have been A LOT, but the shift into a new, more stable reality has begun. The channeled reading for January 2026 brought forward the Seven of Cups. This is a card about all the things that we seek, wish for, and desire. It is an appropriate card as we consider what we want to accomplish and attract as the new year begins.

Many of us start the new year with resolutions – to join a gym, learn a new language, get a better job, etc. Instead of regarding your life as a task-driven improvement project, consider what’s on your personal wishlist for the year. Let’s approach this from an emotional perspective rather than an intellectual one. What does your heart want, and how do you want your life to feel?

In the image of the Seven of Cups, a figure looks upon seven cups representing an array of desires. The cups appear in a cloud, indicating that this is the imaginal realm, not the physical one. The figure depicted has a role in deciding which of these to choose, to pursue, and to bring forward into reality.

This is a powerful synchrony with the astrology of 2026. The “headline” transit of the year is the upcoming conjunction of the planets Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees of Aries, which will take place in February and influence the remainder of the year. Zero degrees of Aries marks the initiatory moment of the 360-degree zodiacal path, and the last time the slower-moving outer planets Saturn and Neptune aligned at zero degrees of Aries was some 9,000 years ago. This isn’t just the beginning of a new calendar year; this is the entry into a fundamentally new era in our solar system. While Saturn moves through the zodiac every 29.5 years (changing signs every 2½–3 years), Neptune takes 165 years to move through the zodiac (changing signs approximately every 14 years). And the two planets meeting up at zero degrees of Aries? That would have been just a couple of millennia after the end of the last Ice Age.

So, what is it that you really want? And how do you want your life to feel? Instead of resolutions, it might be helpful to write a list of your desires as affirmations – pull them out of the “clouds” into present reality. After all, words are a form of spells. For example: “I am doing work that I love.” “I feel strong and healthy.” “I am financially secure.” Write them out and keep the list somewhere for reference as the year unfolds. This list of desires as affirmations is not a “to-do list,” but there is a catch. The desires should be something you have the direct capacity to contribute to – this is a joint effort between you, Neptune, and Saturn.

Saturn is the planet associated with maturation, structural change, and new realities. Neptune is the planet associated with dreams and vision. Align these two in the sign of Aries, and we are in a position to construct a new reality for ourselves – a potent and beautiful one.
